Louise Amstrup
For spring/summer 2013, Louise Amstrup reveals her most playful side to date. With its dreamlike, puzzling cinematography, Juliet of Spirits – the 1965 film by Fellini – takes centre stage in a collection drawing on the fantastical and the surreal. If a humorous or cute mood is present it is contrasted by the obscurity of four prints, each a nod to the collage work of Rodchenko. Next to a pinup leg print, two motifs respectively featuring the heads of a swan and a chameleon on a woman’s body also form the fourth print, a miniature version of the latter two motifs.
Spring/summer 2013 marks Louise Amstrup’s 10th season. Born in Denmark, the designer studied in Germany where she graduated from Düsseldorf’s Akademie Mode and Design in 2003. She went on to work for Alexander McQueen before launching her eponymous label in 2006. Louise Amstrup won the On|Off Visionary Award in 2010. She is based in London.
